Summary of Recall: GD Midea today announced in cooperation with the CPSC, it is voluntarily recalling specific varieties of dehumidifiers due to a small number of these units having been associated with a risk of fire or smoke.
Product Description: The affected products are those with a date of manufacture between 2006 and 2011. Meijer has not carried these models since 2012. Only the following models within the described dates of manufacture are affected:

Units manufactured after this time have a shut-off switch that detects and helps prevent operational abnormalities, regardless of whether they are caused by the consumer or by operating conditions.
Hazard: The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards.
